At the AOIC we strive to provide a wealth of continuing professional development (CPD) resources for our members. We believe that CPD for celebrants is extremely important; a good celebrant is always learning and, more importantly, always wanting to learn more and provide the best level of service to couples and families. We should therefore look to develop our knowledge and skills on an ongoing basis.
What CPD resources does the AOIC offer?
We offer a wide range of CPD material, updated on a regular basis. This includes:
- Monthly CPD sessions with relevant guest speakers
- Podcasts
- Downloadable learning resources and templates
- News articles and blogs
- The annual AOIC Conference
- Lists of suggested reading materials
- Ceremony best practice guidelines.
How is CPD for celebrants monitored?
The AOIC does not assess members’ CPD activity as there is currently no formal requirement for celebrants to undertake regular CPD, but we believe it is best practice to do so. We therefore provide a simple document for members to record their own CPD if they wish. Regular CPD could become a formal requirement if independent celebrants are authorised to conduct legally biding weddings in the future, so keeping a record is always a good idea.
Where can I access CPD for celebrants?
All of our CPD resources are available in the Members’ Area of the website. There is a specific CPD page in this area, along with other pages for podcasts, ceremony guidelines, template documents, and lots more. You can also find lots of ideas, information and inspiration on the AOIC blog.
If you’re a member, head over to the Members’ Area and explore what’s on offer. If you’re a celebrant and not yet a member, contact us today to find out more about the many benefits we offer – we would love to hear from you!
