I live near Kendal, in the Lake District, and offer wedding, vow renewal, funeral and naming ceremony services tailored to your requirements. I conduct non-religious ceremonies that focus on celebrating the joy and achievements of life, that look to the future and that offer comfort and hope. If you want to, you can add a prayer or hymn from any religion.
I share ideas for readings, music and vows to create a service that you and your family will enjoy and remember. Planning a special day requires research and decision making and I try to make this easier for you by offering options and solutions. When planning, we will meet face to face and if you are at a distance, we can use Skype or WhatsApp.
For funerals, we will meet so that you can share personal thoughts and memories of your loved one and think about options for music and readings. I will write the eulogy and confirm music with the funeral director and provide readings for family if needed. I can conduct the whole service or just present the eulogy according to your preferences.
Prior to becoming a celebrant, I was a teacher and then a university lecturer, so I am a people person used to doing a lot of writing and speaking in public! I began as a celebrant by writing and presenting the eulogies at family funerals and then got asked to do a wedding. When I retired from lecturing, becoming a celebrant felt like the natural next step. In terms of qualifications, I have four degrees, including a doctorate, and I have successfully completed the Heart-led Ceremonies Celebrant training programme .
Areas Served: The Lake District, Cumbria, North Lancashire and Yorkshire Dales.
